Preserving culture and heritage through generations
Our Story
Le Clos du Fil was born from a desire to preserve and share the cultural heritage of Hoa Lu through genuine hospitality. More than a boutique hotel, it is a place where travelers can experience the history of the region, the beauty of Tam Coc and the warmth of local life, all while enjoying the comfort of a welcoming home away from home.
The village
Nestled in a quiet alley of Văn Lâm, a 700-year-old embroidery village, Le Clos du Fil is deeply connected to one of Ninh Binh's oldest craft traditions. When Hoa Lu was the ancient capital of Vietnam, local artisans were renowned for creating delicate lace and embroidery for the Royal Court. Today, the village continues to preserve this remarkable heritage, with generations of embroiderers keeping the craft alive through patience, skill and dedication.
The family & the atelier
The story of Le Clos du Fil is inseparable from the family of artisan Huấn Chu. After learning the art of embroidery from the French in the 1950s, he became one of the pioneers of artistic embroidery in Hoa Lu, developing a distinctive style that earned lasting recognition.
In 1989, his daughter, Ngân Đỗ, continued his legacy by establishing a family-run embroidery atelier, where local artisans create handcrafted pieces using traditional techniques refined over generations.
During your stay, you are invited to visit the atelier, located just a few steps from the hotel. Here, you can witness the intricate craftsmanship behind every stitch, meet the artisans preserving this heritage, and discover unique embroidered creations that reflect both tradition and contemporary elegance.
